As a Luxury Newborn Photographer in Lake Country, there is nothing more exciting than becoming an Aunt!

Baby Bentley | First Hour of Life
At just after 10:00 at night, I finally got to meet my newborn nephew, Bentley. I was honored to be able to capture some precious moments of him bonding with his mother during skin to skin time. These photos were taken within the first hour of baby Bentley’s life and for that reason are very intimate.
All mamas remember those first moments of meeting their newborn baby. Their skin is so soft and wrinkly, their hair still wet, and eyes so clear. They are alert and ready to meet the one who’s smell they know so well and who’s voice they have heard for 9 months (well really, 10 months, am I right moms?!). This precious meeting and all the squishy new details are what I tried to capture.
We had been waiting for the call… it could be any day now they said. Finally, at 1 in the morning we got the text, Sam’s water broke and they were heading to the hospital! Morning came and progress was being made. Slow but steady, baby was getting closer to being born. By the time my husband got home, it was time to get in the car because baby could be here any minute! We got to Monroe and still baby was not here! We waited and waited… patiently. My son ran up and down every hall in that hospital a zillion times. We took bets on gender, we anticipated what he/she might look like, and we even played a game to guess what time the baby would be born. The whole family, both sides, waited in the hallway to hear those first cries. Finally, we saw the doctor enter her room; it must be baby time! We waited even more eagerly! And then, here comes Colton! A huge grin on his face as he walks down the hallway towards us! We each went to the room one at a time to meet baby Bentley. I’ll let my images tell the rest of the story…
Baby Bentley | Fresh 48
It isn’t every day that you get the chance as a photographer to do an in-hospital fresh 48 session for your newborn nephew. This was such a special session for me. Baby Bentley was just 20 hours old in these intimate newborn photos at the hospital.
When I think back to this day, I just relive the excitement I felt as I packed up my little family in the Nissan and made the drive to Monroe to meet our sweet new nephew. When we got there, the room was filled with visitors. All were excited to meet baby Bentley. But that didn’t stop us from clearing away some of the clutter and capturing some really sweet moments of my brother-in-law, his wife, and their sweet new addition to the family. His dark hair, and sweet gaze had us all head over heels for him instantly. One of my favorite shots is of Bentley when he just looked right into my lens.
Colton and Sam adjusted to life as new parents so effortlessly. Colton was so gentle with Bentley and you could just tell in the way his large hands cupped Bentley’s sweet tiny head that he was a natural at being a father. And Sam had that new momma glow. Her gaze at her newborn showed her undeniable love for him. There’s nothing more gratifying as a photographer, than capturing these strong emotions of those first hours as new parents. The excitement, the worry, and the overwhelming love.

About a week after Bentley was born, our whole family headed back to Shullsburg to visit the happy family of three at there home! It was so great to see Sam, Colton and Bentley finding their groove at home. Enjoy a few sweet moments from our visit to their home.
