Milwaukee Family Photographer | How to Display Your Newborn Portraits

Client Guides

From our first point of contact to the delivery of your finished pieces, it’s my goal as a Milwaukee family photographer to help you create the timeless portraiture you’ve always dreamed of. It surprises many clients to know that we start talking and planning those finished pieces from the very first meeting before I ever even take a photo. But you see, our prints, our framed pieces, our heirloom albums are more than just photos to me. They’re a work of art, and part of your family’s legacy. This means that the way you display your family portraits deserve to be planned out just as thoughtfully as the wardrobe or the location. Every detail matters.

We begin with the walls.

During our planning meeting, we will discuss your artwork preferences in great detail. I like to begin by discussing the spaces inside your home to display the portraits. Is there a wall that would be great to display your artwork on? Do you prefer square prints? Or repetitive patterns?  These answers will impact the way that I photograph your session – whether I photograph your family in portrait or horizontal landscape, whether I come in tight or photograph from further away. It will also help me guide you to the appropriate size artwork for the space you wish to showcase it.

Must have photos.

Every mama comes to the session with a vision in mind, a portrait in her mind’s eye that will allow her to look back on this time and see her legacy. For many parents, this at least includes a photo of the siblings, a portrait of the family, and an individual of each child. Knowing which moments you desire to reflect your family’s story, allows me to prioritize the photos and adjust the activities in our session.

Inspired Galleries.

For many clients, it can feel impossible to imagine what a collection of photographs might look like together. To help you better visualize how to display your portraits I’ll mock up a handful of inspiration galleries for your portraits. Once we have narrowed down a selection, I can show you how they will look on your walls, to scale. Many of my clients find this service incredibly valuable as it allows you to see how your favorite portraits may be displayed in your home without ever picking up a hammer and nails.
