As a Lake Country Family Photographer, fall family photos have my HEART! And you’re going to love this Waukesha family session!!
Last week I shared with you all a fun fall family session at Retzer Nature Center using a few of my favorite locations. Last fall I had so many beautiful sessions there! I met the beautiful Keepman Family at Retzer Nature in Waukehsa, Wisconsin for their Waukesha Family Photo session with their three sweet boys. These boys had so much personality and charm; let’s just say it was hard to even pick which images to share in this blog post! This could be one of my favorite family photo sessions ever! Their color palette was perfection, her skirt had such beautiful movement, and their love for one another was undeniable.
One of my favorite things about this Waukesha family session was the family! This sweet momma told me that after watching some close friends go through hardship and loss, she has vowed to never let a year go by where they don’t get in front of a camera and document some moments as a family. She told me that whatever I captured would be just perfect because that’s exactly the state they are in. I LIVE for sessions like this!!! Don’t get me wrong; I like to get one where everyone looks and smiles, but I love the REAL. I always want real! When I look at my favorite pictures of my family, they are almost always the real smiles, the real emotions, and the real moments I cherish most.
I always tell my clients that wardrobe can make a HUGE impact on the look and feel of the images. And think that is truly evident in this session! So when you’re planning your session… Don’t Be Afraid to Dress It Up! Have you thought about rocking a romantic gown, tulle skirt or flower crown but just never had an occasion for it? This is your chance to do it up! Remember: There is no such thing as “too dressed up” when it comes to your portrait session, so don’t be afraid to have some fun! Say Yes to that Dress Mama! Dresses and skirts look most stunning because they really flatter every female body, especially on camera — which is probably why the red carpet is always full of so many dresses and not very many pantsuits! We recommend avoiding pants and shorts for your session, and saying yes to a dress instead. Long, full-length, flowy dresses and skirts look amazing on camera because they bring extra movement to the photos. Especially when juxtaposed with nature. Consider softer fabrics like chiffon or tulle which allow for beautiful movement in the images.
